Numerous media sources, including this article by the LA Times, have recently detailed the EPA’s withdrawal of it’s option to protect the Bristol Bay fisheries from the proposed massive copper and gold mine in the watersheds of Bristol Bay.
Critics fear the Pebble Mine could devastate fisheries in the area, home to many strong salmon runs and other wildlife. Native communities dot the area, along with fishing lodges and commercial fisheries.
